Come for coffee, leave with community. Grounded is a gathering space to meet, relax and socialise — savour good food and drink, grab a book or a game, hold a meeting, or simply take time out. A slower pace, and an open door.
An open fireplace to hole up beside in winter, a bright sunny courtyard for summer. Savour good food and drink, pull a game off the shelf, borrow a book, hold a meeting, or focus in our WiFi workspace — all at a no-rush pace. We run as a sustainable vegan, low-waste café.
Our light-filled Studio at the back is where the wellness classes happen — and it doubles as extra cafe space and a home for events. Check the timetable for what's on each day. All levels welcome, mats provided.
Plus regular workshops, socials and one-off events — check the timetable for what's on.
A peaceful room at the top of the building for one-to-one therapies and small group sessions. When it's not booked, it's a quiet space to hire for focused work — with fast WiFi and plenty of light.
Classes, clubs and gatherings across the Cafe, the Studio and the Loft. Most run every week — the ones that don’t are shown faded, with the date they’re next on.

Grounded was founded by Sally Bayly, who wanted to give something back to the Rye community in thanks for the support her family received after a family tragedy. Its essence is community, inclusivity, making bonds and friendships, and taking time out. More than anything, we want to encourage a slower pace — an uplifting space where lasting friendships are made. Come in alone and someone will talk to you, if that's what you need; and if it's peace and quiet you're after, you'll find that too.
Comfortable on your own — someone will talk to you, if that's what you need.
Local suppliers, and a sustainable vegan, low-waste kitchen.
A slower pace by design. There's no rush here.
We have a fantastic crew — friendly, welcoming and open-minded. (In the words of a Wise Woman, they aim to be Practically Perfect In Every Way.) More profiles to follow.

Originally from Canada, Jenyfa has always had a strong connection to movement and the body. With a background in gymnastics, yoga, dance and kickboxing, her interest in holistic wellbeing grew through exploring the relationship between movement, breath and the nervous system.
She trained in massage therapy and reflexology at the Vancouver School of Healing Arts in 2017, later deepening her reflexology practice with a Level 5 clinical qualification.
At Grounded, Jenyfa primarily offers reflexology, creating calm, nurturing treatments designed to support relaxation, balance and a deeper sense of connection within the body. She occasionally also offers massage therapy, with each treatment tailored to what the client needs on the day.
Her approach is intuitive, grounded and holistic, offering a welcoming space to slow down, reset and reconnect.

Lucy teaches Tai Chi and yoga, and is a Level 2 Reiki practitioner, certified in cranial massage and Indian head massage. She can blend reiki with the head massage, which is where the two work best together.
She is currently training in sound healing, using biosonics tuning forks for body healing.

Sally founded Grounded as a centre of wellness, and is an inspiring and highly experienced yoga teacher, dedicated to her yoga practice and to bringing a feeling of wellbeing to every individual. Her teaching is an intuitive and unique blend of many styles and is absolutely for everyone, engaging complete beginners and those at highly advanced levels alike. Her passionate attention to detail enhances core strength, flexibility and balance, improves mental focus and a sense of calm, and will boost energy levels and inner resilience.
She also runs easy-to-follow weekly Seniors classes, for anyone who feels their flexibility or mobility is less than it was — and would like to improve it.
All her classes include simple relaxation and breathing techniques to help with sleep, calm and focus, and to bring about a deeper mind-body connection.
She runs beach yoga classes, workshops and retreats, and one-to-ones, with mother and baby yoga coming soon.

“i love this fairly new coffee shop in Rye, very good coffee and atmosphere with shelves of books and games to play, tasty treats and homemade soup. Books to swop and a Yoga studio at the back! Lovely combination!”
“Spent the morning in the wonderful Grounded. Started with a yoga class led be Sally which was inclusive and adapted to all levels. Then had lovely coffee and flapjacks, and spent some time working on my laptop. Lovely friendly atmosphere, would highly recommend!”
